BloodHunter Guide

1. BloodHunter's Role

BloodHunter is a semi-carry and, unlike most other carries in the game, he excels early game thanks to his ability to stay in a lane for extended periods of time, and as the game progresses it gets much harder for you to stay viable. A good BloodHunter knows when to last hit and deny to keep his health up as well as harass with his silence. Care is needed when using this hero for he is still squishy and as the game progresses it gets harder for you to survive unless you have a good support hero such as Demented Shaman.

Abilities

2. BloodHunter's Abilities

A. BloodCrazy

blood_crazy

The Blood Hunter instills a craze for blood in a target unit, causing it to have increased base damage. While in this state, the target unit will take some damage over time and
be unable to cast any spells.

Applies Blood Crazy to target for 6/9/12/15 seconds. Increases base damage by 20/40/60/80% but silences and deals 20/15/10/5 magic damage per second, until the
end of the duration.

Mana Cost 80
Cooldown 10 seconds
Range 600
Usage: This move requires some thinking because it can easily backfire. As it levels up, the damage decreases while the duration and base damage increase. It inflicts the most damage at Level 2. The trick here is when to cast it on yourself, an ally or an enemy. Here are some tricks of the trade to help you out:
1. NEVER cast a Level 3 or 4 Blood Crazy on an enemy carry!
2. Try to work a plan with an ally, such as Hammerstorm. He uses his ulti, which increases his base damage, then cast your silence and his damage should be off the charts.
3. If you are to use it on yourself, always cast Hemmorrhage before(more on this later on)

B. Feast

Feast

The Blood Hunter feasts on the flesh of every kill he makes, healing him based on the victim's maximum Health.

Heals for 10/20/30/40% of a Hero's maximum Health, or 10/15/20/25% for non-Hero victims. Killing gadgets (wards etc.) will not heal Blood Hunter.

Mana Passive
Cooldown Passive
Usage: This is where BloodHunter's last hitting counts the most. For every kill or deny you make, you will heal a portion of your health so this is going to be the basis behind your hero build. It is your most important skill but you must not rely on it since you need to have a good last hitting ability. This allows BloodHunter to solo middle lane against both melee and ranged heroes. You can heal and harass without problems and if you master at last hitting, your enemies will have a hard time killing you in early game.

C. Blood Sense

bloodsense

When a nearby enemy is below 40% Health, the Blood Hunter can smell it. Grants vision of the enemy unit and increases the Blood Hunter's movement speed.

Can smell the enemies blood from 1500/3000/4500/6000 range. Increases movement speed by 11/22/33/44% and applies a red circle underneath the enemy. Reveals stealthed enemies.

Mana Passive
Cooldown Passive
Usage: Not much about this ability but it makes BloodHunter one of the best chasers in the game. It also reveals stealthed units so once they hit below 40% health their stealth becomes useless. This is a great counter to Scout, NightHound, Keeper of the Forest and Magmus, who have long lasting stealth abilities.

D. Hemmorrhage

hemmorhage

The Blood Hunter shoots out a sharp spike from his body at an enemy's major artery, dealing initial damage followed by additional damage whenever they move.

Deals 150/250/350 Magic damage to target and applies Hemorrhage for 5/7/9 seconds.
True damage taken based on 20/40/60% of distance moved.
Mana 150/200/250
Cooldown 70 seconds
Range 1000
Usage: This is what makes Bloodhunter fun to use. What this does is hit an enemy and everytime he moves he takes some damage. In this case you have 2 scenarios. Firstly you should always hit the squishy enemy; such as the carry or intelligence hero. Now what can happen is either they don't notice they have hemmorrhage and keep moving, thereby taking enough damage to die or they hit 'H' on the keyboard and stop in position. One can consider this move a stun in this case so it allows your team to gank. If you use it correctly, its a guaranteed kill either way. A good idea is to use it on someone like rampage during a charge. The more movement speed the more damage taken while moving.

Skill Build

3. Skill Build
This is the basic skill build for BloodHunter. You can't really go wrong with this but there is always room to experiment a bit.

Notes: Get Feast right from the beginning to make sure nothing goes wrong should you get ganked early. Get just 1 level for Blood Crazy so you can harass. It is powerful early game at level 1. If you are mid try to get a kill once you reach level 6. Get behind your enemy, cast Hemmorrhage and silence on them then go in for the kill. You should not have any problems with this method, and are almost guaranteed a kill.

Item Build

4. Item Build

Start off with a Logger's Hatchet, Iron Buckler and Runes of the Blight

Go directly for Marchers because you'll need the extra movement speed to chase down enemies.  Now if you farm up well and are able to gank the side lanes for some hero kills go directly for a Mock of Brilliance.  It is simply the best item for BloodHunter since it provides continuous damage.  Whether you are able to rush Mock or not, your next step should be to go for Shrunken Head since it allows you to get into the middle of a team fight and get in as much damage as you want.  These two items alone should always secure victory :) In terms of boots, Ghost Marchers are always the best choice allowing you to seriously chase down any enemy.

Note: Never get a Codex, even if it is in the Recommended Tab!  BloodHunter does not have the mana to support it; if you use Codex, you'll basically end up not being able to silence and your silence is extremely important.
