E3 2010: Sony Details, Dates, Prices PlayStation Move
The entertainment solution that only does everything now does even more. That's what Sony's marketing chief, Peter Dille had to say when he took the stage at the Shrine Auditorium to detail the company's leap into motion control with PlayStation Move.
Dille and SCEA CEO Jack Tretton pitched precision with Move, describing the camera and dual controller motion control system as a game changing device.
"Now, you can literally move into the game," Tretton said. "PlayStation Move can replicate what you do. How it happens in your hand is how it happens on the screen."
Sony demoed a handful of games, including Tiger Woods PGA Tour and newly announced third-person action title, Sorcery. Both games showed the strong 1:1 controls and the precision Sony boasted.
And the company made some not so subtle jabs at Microsoft's motion control system, Kinect. PlayStation pitchman Kevin Butler took the stage with a wry smile and asked, "Am I crazy, or were there 100 French acrobats prancing around the arena the other night? I heard there was a sale on blue ponchos."
After Butler drew laughs, the company announced a number of the more than 40 games with move compatibility that will be available this holiday season, including SOCOM 4, Time Crisis, NBA 2K11, Ruse, Singstar and Dance, Killzone 3, and EyePet.
Sony also dated and priced Move. The system is set to launch on September 15 in Europe, September 19 in North America, and October 21 in Japan. The Move controller will retail for $49.99 and the additional Navigation controller is priced at $29.99.
A bundle of the PlayStation Eye, Move controller, and Sports Champions game will sell for $99.99. And the PS3, Eye, Sports Champions, Move controller bundle is priced at $399.99.
